In conjunction with Ai Weiwei: Dropping the Urn (Ceramic Works, 5000 BCE - 2010 CE), Philip Tinari discusses the practices of Jingdezhen porcelain production in the context of Ai Weiwei's approach to contemporary Chinese ceramics.Tinari is founding editor of LEAP, a new bimonthly journal of contemporary Chinese art based in Beijing and published by the Modern Media Group. Since 2007, he has run the publishing imprint, editorial office, and translation studio Office for Discourse Engineering. He is a contributor to Artforum, and is the founding editor of artforum.com.cn, the magazine's Chinese-language website. He has written and lectured widely on contemporary art in China, for publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times Magazine, and Parkett.

Etsy, PNCA and the Portland Etsy Team host an “I Heart Art" meet and greet at PNCA on Friday, February 26. This public event brings together the PNCA student body, the Portland Etsy Team, members of the Guild Council Program from the Museum of Contemporary Craft, and the thriving local arts and crafts community of Portland.

The event is a great opportunity for Portland-based makers to network and learn more about this burgeoning partnership and future opportunities for professional development. Featuring light food and drink, music, button making, Gocco printing and more.
